➡️ Self-Love is the Best Love — what will you do for YOU today 💝

❤️‍🩹Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic love — it’s also a perfect time to focus on self-love and self-care!

This year, make a commitment to celebrate and prioritize your well-being.

Whether it’s through small acts of kindness to ourselves, staying active, or finding moments of peace and reflection, there are countless ways to nurture our own hearts.

Here are some self-love tips from fellow NAU students to inspire you to treat yourself with the love and care you deserve. 💝

I like to take care of myself by doing small — but meaningful things.

For example, I remind myself to drink water and eat regularly.

When school starts and I get busy with assignments these are the first that I tend to neglect, which is why I consider them essential to my self-care routine. Eating gives me the energy to keep going throughout my day, and staying hydrated makes me feel refreshed and focused.

Another way that I like to take care of myself is through reading. I have lots of books in my library that I have yet to read and I’m waiting for the new Hunger Games book coming out in March.

Reading helps me relax, escape, and recharge as I unwind before heading to bed as another one of my favorite self-care habits.

Staying active is one of the best ways to stay motivated and feel good, both physically and mentally. When life gets busy, carving out time to move my body helps me de-stress and boosts my energy. I love taking workout classes, especially hot yoga (my favorite), where I can unwind at a studio.

But staying active doesn’t have have to mean heading to a in person class — there are SO many free and accessible options.

Flagstaff offers incredible trails, even on campus, perfect for walking or running.

At home, I often practice yoga through YouTube, and my go-to is Yoga With Kassandra, a fantastic and free way to practice.

Journaling is another powerful tool I use to reflect, grow, and practice self-love. When things feel overwhelming, sitting down to write everything out helps me process my thoughts and gain clarity.

Lately, I’ve started adding three things I am grateful for each time I journal.

This simple habit has helped me shift to a more positive mindset and focus on the good in my day.

Having Uninterrupted Me Time:

What I do is block off anywhere from 30 minutes to almost a whole day and have a me day, whatever that may be.

This varies depending on how much time I have to unwind and do my things. For something shorter, you can do a relaxing bath or shower or do a chore and clean your space.

Otherwise, if I have the time then I will take my time to be productive but not rushed or just having a chill day whatever that may be.

Personally I like to do these regularly on the weekends.

I usually dedicate some hours to take care of myself (either a nice shower or skin care most often), have a nice meal or have something to enjoy while running some sort of errand or enjoy a hobby of mine!

Getting outside is a great way to clear your mind and reconnect to what’s really important to you.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, try to take a walk outside or stretch your legs for a few minutes.

As my mom always says, more grateful, less hateful.

Just stepping outside and feeling the sun or wind on your face can remind you how important things are beyond our daily to-dos.

Having a moment for yourself in nature will keep your mind refreshed and give space to breathe and shift your perspective.

Practicing gratitude daily can also help relieve the pressure that comes with constantly online schedules.
