Insta Updates: Link stickers & Collabs
Your guide to the latest updates
Link out from your Instagram stories!
The rumors have been circulating and Instagram just confirmed it’s true — ANYONE can now share a link from their Instagram stories.
Why is this a big deal? Instagram still doesn’t allow linking in feed posts. This is why “link in bio” has become so popular over the years. Previously, you had to have over 10,000 followers to be able to link out from stories.
Now — it’s available to all.
Adding a link
- Capture or upload content to your store
- Select the sticker tool from the navigation bar
- Tap the “Link” sticker & add your link
- Place the link sticker on your story
- Customize the link sticker and make it stand out
Note: The link sticker displays the website domain — allowing for transparency.
👀 Lumberjack Tip: Draw Attention to Link Stickers 👀
It’s a new feature and your audience might need some prompting. Help them take action by making it easy for them to know what to do
Use text to provide direct calls to action
- Tap to register
- Tap to enter
- Full details — tap below
- Get your tickers
- RSVP at the link below
You can also draw attention to your link by creating a dedicated space for your link sticker in story templates like the one’s from Later below.
Now that you have link stickers — USE them. Just make sure to let the viewer know what they’re supposed to do with the link.
And last but not least — don’t forget to go back and check your data. Why did one link sticker get more clicks than the other? Go back and look at your posts and see how you can use this information to enhance the performance of future stories.
Instagram Collabs
➡️ Next up — Instagram collabs.
Have you ever had a co-sponsored event and didn’t know which account to post it on? With Instagram collabs, you’ll never run into that dilemma again.
With Collabs users can invite someone to collaborate on a Reel or Insta feed post and that content will show up on BOTH your profiles!
This allows you to engage with BOTH communities.
How to send a Collabs request
- Upload your reel or feed post like usual and before you post, you’ll see the tag people option.
- Click tag people — select “Invite collaborator” — select Instagram user name.
After you’ve chosen your collaborator, share the post as usual, and that account will receive a request in their DMs.
NOTE: You can only collaborate with one person currently.
How to Accept a Collabs Request
If someone has requested to collaborate with you, you’ll receive the request in your DMs.
Hit “Accept” for the content to appear on both of your profiles.
