Life in 5: Mike Lopez

Wrapping up my time at NAU and making it count

Hey Jacks — I’m Mike, a senior here at NAU getting ready to graduate with a bachelor degree in Strategic Communication, emphasis in PR!

Batter up ⚾️

I started playing baseball when I was 4 years old and haven’t been able to put the ball down since. For the last three years, I’ve played outfield for NAU’s club team.

The best part about playing is having the opportunity to be out on the field and play with the greatest friends around.

California native 🌊

Being a California native, living without a beach has been quite a struggle! Whenever I’m home, I like to spend as much time as possible relaxing and ]watching the sunset at the beach.

After graduation I hope to move back to California and intern for a professional sports team. I say California because honestly, nothing beats California weather!

Why I came to NAU🌲🗻

I’m always up for a fun hike! Part of the reason I came to NAU was because of the incredible mountain range we find ourselves amongst.

My favorite hike in Northern Arizona? Wet Beaver Creek. There’s nothing like stopping halfway to cool off in the chilly water in the middle of summer!

I’m a history junkie 📖

You can always find me trying to learn as much as possible in regards to history.

I’ve found that one of the best ways to do that is to ask my family who has experienced so much change in our country.

When I need to unwind, you’ll find me here 💪

Whenever I’m stressed or just need a way to relax, you’ll find me at the gym.

It’s a great way for me to just unwind, hyperfocus on something, and let my mind escape from the stress of the world. Afterwards, I feel healthier and have a clear mind to tackle what’s happening.

Sometimes, especially during exam time, the gym becomes my second home!
