Whether your goal is to ace your organic chemistry class, make new friends in your residence hall, or land that coveted summer internship this year.
YOU. CAN. DO. IT.
Make your dreams a reality by planning small, realistic steps and actually complete them.
Hold yourself accountable this year and truly go for it!

Don’t be afraid to reach out, use your connections and ask for help when you need that extra push. When you fall, we’ll be there to pick you up. It’s #TheLumberjackWay
To get you started on the right foot, here’s 5 resolutions you can actually stick to. Trust us — they’ll make your semester a lot easier 😉
1. Start your work — and studying — a little earlier

Try to knock out at least part of an assignment the day its assigned while its fresh in your head. Start studying for an exam at least a week ahead of time. Turning in assignments at least a day ahead of the due date is a pretty good idea as well so you aren’t rushed and pulling all-nighters.
2. Make those connections
This semester is a chance to actually attend your professors’ office hours, and get to know your classmates. Attending office hours allows your professor to know your face and can really help your grade!
Connections don’t stop there. Friends made in class = study groups who will help you understand the material, retain information and help you prep for the big assignments and tests.

3. Focus on YOU!
Improving grades and enhancing your study techniques are great, but don’t forget to make time for yourself.

Take time to relax, decompress and clear your head.

Attend a yoga class at the HLC or take a walk around campus and enjoy the scenery. You can’t be “on” all the time!

4. Join a club and find your “group”

NAU has over 350 student-run clubs that basically cover all major interest areas. If you are passionate about something, chances are someone on campus is too! Lifelong friends are found in NAU clubs, so check out the current clubs here. Don’t see a club that sparks your interest? Start your own!
5. Sleep is not overrated

Most students get about 6 hours a sleep, when the average young adult needs between 7–8 to function at the optimum level. This semester, shoot for getting a full 8 hours to ensure you wake-up refreshed and ready to take on your day!
Here’s to another #KickAxe year, Jacks!
