The Thanksgiving Wardrobe “Exchange”
Bundle up and get cozy
Swap out your summer shorts and sandals for your winter coats and sweaters over Thanksgiving break and make the most of your visit back home!

Thanksgiving break is coming up, and while that means time for turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce — it’s also a perfect chance to swap our your summer wardrobe for your cold-weather attire!

Maximize your trip home and you’ll be prepared for snow, rain, and all the fun that comes along with a Flagstaff winter!
What to swap out
As the temperatures start to drop, you’ll have less opportunities to wear those lightweight summer outfits. To avoid overcrowding your wardrobe, try to bring the majority of the following items home —but it’s okay to keep a few around for those random warm winter days or early spring!
- Shorts
- Tank tops and summer shirts
- Flip flops/sandals
- Lightweight dresses
- All your extra swimsuits
Aim to take home items that you haven’t worn since August or September.
If you haven’t worn them now you probably won’t during the snowy months! ❄️
What to bring back:
If you’re preparing for your first winter in Lumberjack Country — the key to mastering the cold weather is layers!
Sweaters + jackets combined = the best combo for the ever-changing and unexpected temperatures seen throughout the winter months.
What should you bring back to prepare for this temperature drop? Try to stick to these basics:
- Warm/wool socks
- Waterproof boots
- Warm sweaters
- Lightweight layering jackets
- Waterproof outer-layer jackets
- Snow jackets/pants (snowboarding anyone?!)
- Beanies, hats, scarves
- Mittens/gloves
Think WARM

Also, if you are at all considering bringing sleds or materials for an epic snow fight, add that to the list as well 😉

Now that you’re prepared for winter wonderland activities, sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of a Flagstaff winter!
