2020 is almost over, and fall semester is coming to a close. Which means — -finals are right around the corner, and so is stress.

But at the end of the day, it’s important that you end the semester not only with good grades but with your self-care in mind too.

Here are some tips on how to finish the semester strong.

Create a Study Plan

One big thing that causes stress is procrastination. It’s hard to stay focused and motivated when you have several long studying days ahead of you.

The fix? Create your study plan. Write out what days you will study for your classes and prioritize them what you need to review most and the date of the final. By creating a balanced study schedule, you will be more determined to learn the information during that time.

Give yourself the proper nutrition.

When I’m stressed, the last thing I’m thinking about is eating a legit meal.

Coffee has helped me get through many late-night study sessions. I now consider it a food group.

But to feel your best during study sessions, you have to continue your normal eating patterns. And make sure you are drinking plenty of water — hydration is key!!!

Taking care of you

Remember to take breaks — you don’t want to burn out.

Listen to your body; it will tell you what it needs. If you're tired, take a 20 min nap, there is nothing wrong with catching a few ZZZ’s now and then.

Some great social distancing study breaks include going outside to play in the snow, binge-watching your favorite show, or going for a walk, or drive.

Take time for your self and re-boot your brain. After all that hard work, you deserve a treat! There are so many ways you can reward yourself during your study sessions.

The most exciting part about the semester ending is the holidays!!! Spending time with your family and friends is always great. The best way to take care of yourself and them this season is to get tested for Covid before traveling home.

We all want to make sure we make these magical times as safe as possible.

You will get through finals

Whether you get the grade you wanted or not, grades do not determine your self-worth. They also do not disregard all the hard work you have put in over this semester.

This stress is temporary; if you need help, reach out to friends or classmates and have a virtual study session.

You’ve got this, Jacks!
